Upcoming Event at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum Focuses on Living and Dying Well
ST. JOHNSBURY, VT (September 9, 2024) – Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) and the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum invite the public to attend What to Know Before You Go, a forum on living and dying well at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum on Wednesday, September 18, 7 – 9 p.m.
The panel includes NVRH Palliative Care provider Mary Ready, MD; NVRH Palliative Care provider Anne Cowles, FNP; and Downs Rachlin Martin estate attorney Ellen Miller. Ready will discuss Medical Aid in Dying (Act 39), Cowles will talk about palliative care and advanced directives and Miller will explain what paperwork people should have in place as they prepare for their death.
“Although thinking about death can bring up a lot of feelings and thoughts, it also offers us a chance to reexamine what it is that we want, both as we live and for when we die,” NVRH Chaplin Abby Pollender said. “We hope attendees will walk away feeling empowered to continue thinking and talking about death and dying.”
This event is free, ADA accessible, and open to the public. No registration or sign-up required. For more info, contact the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum at 802-748-8291.
