The Hanna and Charles Gray Gallery at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital is pleased to announce a new exhibit featuring the work of high school students from Hazen Union School, Danville High School, and The Arlington School. The show runs from April 17 to May 25, 2025.
From printmaking and drawing to photography and fiber arts, the exhibit showcases a diverse range of artistic skill and creativity.
“At NVRH, we believe art has the power to heal, inspire, and connect,” says Art Curator and Associate Director of Philanthropy Jen Layn. “Showcasing the creative talents of students from Hazen, Arlington, and Danville brings a vibrant energy to our hospital walls and reminds us all of the hope and imagination that lives within our communities. We’re honored to celebrate these young artists and the schools that nurture their creativity.”
Each high school submitted an artist statement to accompany the show.
From foundational courses in drawing and painting to advanced opportunities like AP Studio Art and college-level dual enrollment, the visual arts curriculum at Hazen Union School nurtures both technical skill and personal expression. Guided by instructors Cindy Camber and James Lockhart, students learn to see the world through multiple perspectives, engaging in media ranging from sculpture and printmaking to digital and interdisciplinary work. Participation in the National Art Honor Society enriches their experience through meaningful service and leadership in the arts.
Art at The Arlington School is a journey of self-discovery, reflection, and growth. Through hands-on exploration in a variety of materials and mediums, students learn not only about artistic techniques, but also about themselves. Whether drawing, painting, sculpting, or experimenting with new forms, each student is encouraged to find the style and process that speaks to them most. The program emphasizes the powerful role art can play in social-emotional learning—offering students a means to process, regulate, and express emotions in a healthy and constructive way.
At Danville High School, the visual arts are a vital part of nurturing students who are kind, competent, and creative. Whether working with stained glass, ceramics, digital photography, or traditional drawing and painting, students are encouraged to take creative risks and build confidence through exploration. Under the guidance of longtime instructor and sponsor for National Honor Society, Abigail Bartell, the art room is a safe and welcoming space where students can express themselves, discover new techniques, and develop both their artistic voice and emotional intelligence.
The show features works by 25 students including Juniper Book, Craig Bunnell, Phoebe Crocker, Autumn Dailey, Jackson Giroux, Janathan Sicard, Lucian Jurkiewicz, Gracie Crown, Mya Lumsden, Jack Willoit, Kathy Luster, Michael Chouinard, Ethan Jones, Chloe Meade, Brayndon Goldsmith, Kayley Goodsell, Caiden Hill, Ireland James, Andrew Joncas, Elliette Melen, Nicholas McReynolds, Sam Patrick, Danica Patridge, Carley Perkins, and Alaina Robbins.
The exhibit is open to the public and will be on display at The Charles M. and Hanna H. Gray Gallery on the hospital’s main floor until May 25, 2025.
