ST.JOHNSBURY – August 26, 2025 – The NEK Coordinated Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) report, a collaboration by multiple Northeast Kingdom health and social service organizations working to better understand local community health needs and priorities, is now available to the public.

Data from surveys gathered in 2024, have now been compiled, analyzed and converted into a single summary report covering the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital and North Country Hospital health regions. The public can now access the report at each report contributor website, including North Country Hospital, Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH), VT Department of Health, NEK Council on Aging, NEK Community Action, NEK Human Services, and Northern Counties Health Care.

A snapshot of residents from the region
The Northeast Kingdom CHNA Report features key demographics and health information for the region, covering the full tri-county area – Caledonia, Essex and Orleans. Anonymous data from residents ages 18 and older who live, work, or spend much of their time in the Northeast Kingdom provides a snapshot of current health needs, social programs and service opportunities. Specific topics covered include, children and family health, adult and elder health, mental health and substance use, housing, nutrition, employment, healthcare facilities, transportation, health insurance, recreation and more.

The goal of the combined report is to provide data that will help support programs, services, and activities to improve the health outcomes of Northeast Kingdom communities.
“This combined effort across multiple agencies demonstrates the commitment to our region.” shared Diana Gibbs, NVRH VP of Community Health Improvement. “The ability to use this data to support a collective vision for our region means improved opportunities for residents. It’s our hope that the information will be used by organizations, residents and more to better understand and improve the quality of life for the residents of the Northeast Kingdom.”
