Mark Bowen grew up in Port Chester and Rye, New York, and received both undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After working in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries for about 14 years, he embarked on a new career as a writer. He has written three nonfiction books, the first two about global warming and the third about an unusual telescope/particle physics detector at the South Pole. He is now working on a fourth book, unrelated to science. He lives in Barnet with his partner, Wendy Stein, and has two grown children, Andrew and Anna, who live in Boulder, Colorado, and Santa Rosa, California, respectively.
