NVRH awards $15,000 in grants to promote health and well-being in the NEK

The Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) Community Health Fund Advisory Committee awarded a total of $15,000 in grants to seven local organizations, including the Danville School, the Kingdom East School District, the Quahog Dance Theatre for Older Adults, the Orleans Central Supervisory Union – Parent-Teacher-Community Association (OCSU PTCA), RuralEdge Support and Services at Home (SASH), Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA), and Catamount Arts.

These grant recipients will support a range of initiatives that will provide health and wellness programming for youth and older adults, wound care education and resources for people experiencing homelessness, and access to outdoor physical activity opportunities for young people.

NVRH Receives Grant from Northeast Kingdom Fund to Support Farm-to-Hospital Health Care Share Program

NVRH) has received a $5,000 grant from the Northeast Kingdom Fund of the Vermont Community Foundation to support its 2026 Health Care Share (HCS) Program—a farm-to-hospital public health program created by the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC). NVRH patients who are experiencing food insecurity and diet-related illness receive fresh produce grown on VYCC farms by youth crew members who gain valuable work experience, job skills, and education in agriculture and nutrition. At NVRH, each participating family receives a weekly share of fresh produce for 12 weeks, along with recipes, cooking tutorials, and healthy eating tips.
