Wednesday, November 21, 2018 The Charles M. and Hanna H. Gray Gallery at NVRH is home to a new exhibit, Home is Where Your Story Begins. The exhibit features a collection of framed photos and accompanying stories, celebrating home in the Northeast Kingdom.
This creative Photovoice project is sponsored by RuralEdge. Photovoice is a group process wherein individuals use their own photographs and words to identify and address pressing issues that impact their lives and communities. On the walls of the Gallery, RuralEdge clients share their unique triumphs and challenges as it relates to home and community. Though the stories vary, from visiting old childhood homes to making new ones, they provide reflections of resiliency and gratitude for having a safe and happy home, most often through the support of RuralEdge.
“We have had many different artistic mediums in the Gallery over the years, but this is the first time we have had a Photovoice exhibit,” said Jen Layn, NVRH Development Manager and Gallery Curator. “I think it is so appropriate we scheduled this opening for the week of Thanksgiving because the stories are all about giving thanks for family, home, and community.” |
