NVRH to Acquire Northern Physical Therapy

Friday, November 2, 2018

Therapy practice will retain name, staff and services as it partners with the local health system

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) will acquire Northern Physical Therapy (NPT) in Lyndonville, effective Nov. 30. The therapy practice will retain its clinical and support staff, location, services and day-to-day operations as it partners with the St. Johnsbury-based health system.

“It is a privilege to welcome NPT to the NVRH organization,” NVRH Chief Human Resource Officer Betty Ann Gwatkin said. “Their engaged, caring and innovative vision and staff align with NVRH’s mission to improve the health of those in our local communities and the greater Northeast Kingdom.”

Founded by the late Ben McCormack, P.T., in 2007, NPT provides professional, educational and personalized physical therapy intervention and performance programs for infants through geriatric patients. The staff has additional training in specialty techniques such as Graston technique, functional dry needling, occupational health services and aquatic therapy.

“Northern Physical Therapy was the manifestation of my husband’s (Ben’s) vision,” NPT Owner Jen McCormack said. “This positive partnership between NPT and NVRH will ensure his practice philosophy and service to the community remains in motion with a Vermont-based organization.”

In addition to a 25-bed critical access hospital, NVRH consists of a growing network of satellite locations and partnership services in the Northeast Kingdom including sleep medicine, primary care, therapy services and other specialty care.

“Northern Physical Therapy joining us will continue to enhance our offering of comprehensive healthcare services,” NVRH Chief Financial Officer Bob Hersey said. “From primary care to surgical services to therapy services, we meet the full spectrum of healthcare needs of our communities locally.”

In addition to continuing to provide care to its current patients, NPT is also accepting new patients. Contact NPT at 802-626-4224 for more information or to set up an appointment.

“We’re dedicated to providing one-on-one care using proven and innovative approaches to best meet an individual’s therapy needs,” NPT Chief Executive Officer Jesse Dimick, P.T.A., A.T.C., said. “Aside from a few internal operational changes, our patients will see the same staff, services and location, with expanded resources and reach with NVRH as our new parent organization.”
