NVRH Auxiliary Receives Distinguished Service to Philanthropy Award

NVRH Auxiliary Receives Distinguished Service to Philanthropy Award

On Monday March 5th the Auxiliary to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital received the 2018 New England Association for Healthcare Philanthropy’s (NEAHP) Distinguished Service to Philanthropy Award.  The annual award, NEAHP’s highest, was presented at its annual conference, held in Woodstock, VT.

This prestigious award recognizes a New England healthcare philanthropist for outstanding generosity as well as contribution of time, talent, leadership and resources to a healthcare organization. It is presented to those who have demonstrated outstanding civic and charitable responsibility, and through their generosity encourages others to get involved. This year marks the first time in the Award’s 40-year history that it was presented to an organization rather than an individual – clear recognition of the Auxiliary’s impact on NVRH and the residents of the Northeast Kingdom.

An integral part of the Hospital since its founding in 1974, over the last 20 years alone, the NVRH Auxiliary has helped secure new equipment large and small and made possible much-needed renovations.  Their focus has been on improving the patient and staff experience through their charitable support, leadership and volunteer service.

As NVRH’s third largest donor, the Auxiliary has returned more than $428,000 in donations to the hospital since 2001.  Nearly every department has benefited from the Auxiliary’s support at one time or another. From donations for small items like cd players in patient rooms to larger purchases like family waiting room furniture or patient lifts, they have steadily enhanced the quality of care and overall experience of patients. Additionally, the Auxiliary also provides scholarships for high school students and adults who are interested in pursuing careers in healthcare, providing more than $50,000 in scholarships since 2001.

The Auxiliary was nominated by Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital’s Director of Development and Marketing, Brynn M. Evans. She stated, “We are all continually inspired by the Auxiliary. There truly are no words that can accurately express our gratitude.  Our institution would not be what we are today without the Auxiliary’s leadership, volunteer service, consistent, long term, targeted and meaningful donations. We thank NEAHP for their recognition of the Auxiliary with this award.”

The New England Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (NEAHP) serves healthcare philanthropy professionals throughout New England. Partnering with the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, the organization provides quality education, networking and other resources to enhance skills and results for members of both associations and the organizations they serve.
