Katherine Harris, Licensed Social Worker is the new Behavioral Health Specialist at the Women’s Wellness Center at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. Behavioral health specialists assist with many factors that impact mental, physical and emotional health and ultimately, quality of life. Katherine is working with the Women’s Health Initiative, part of the Vermont Blueprint for Health. The Women’s Health Initiative provides women with substantial preventive care services through women’s health clinic settings.
As a Behavioral Health Specialist, Katherine supports patients with problems ranging from depression, including during pregnancy and after delivery, anxiety, parenting stress, grief and loss, stress management, substance abuse, quitting smoking, managing chronic health conditions, a sudden emotional crisis, food and/or housing insecurity, birth control options, domestic violence, legal issues and more. Katherine works with a team of physicians, providers, nurses, community organizations and family members to provide ultimate patient care, compassion and healing.

Katherine grew up in Florida, and moved to Warren VT as a teenager. She attended the University of Vermont, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and her Master’s Degree in Social Work. Prior to her earning her Master’s Degree, she worked for five years as a massage therapist, which is known to promote health and wellness.
Before working at the Women’s Wellness Center, Katherine practiced in a number of mental health centers, rehabilitation services and schools supporting children and families. She is very pleased to be in a hospital setting. “There’s a very strong team of providers and nurses in Women’s Wellness. The commitment to women and their families is heartfelt and sincere. I am very excited to be here.”
Katherine lives with her husband Beau and their daughter Lauren. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, yoga, watching documentary films and working on projects around the house.
