Annick-Marie V. Kaufman, MD and General Surgeon, has joined the Medical Staff at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. Dr. Kaufman came to the United States when she was eighteen to attend Willamette University in Salem, OR, where she received her BA in 1996. She graduated from the Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica in 2002. The next five years were spent completing her internship and residency in general surgery at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH, which is affiliated with Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. One year was spent at a Level 1 trauma center performing surgical trauma and critical care. For the past seven years, she has been a surgeon in a private practice in Ashland, OR.
Dr. Kaufman grew up in Guatemala City, Guatemala, where her father was a Chemical Engineer. Her father is French and her mother is German; her family lives in southern France. Dr. Kaufman is fluent in Spanish, German and English. She chose general surgery because of the hands-on precision and knowledge required.
Dr. Kaufman’s practice focuses on minimally invasive surgery and includes, but is not limited to, hernia repair, appendix removal, gall bladder, breast surgery, skin cancer, upper and lower endoscopies, colonoscopies, and abdominal surgery.
“We are delighted to have Dr. Kaufman join our surgical team,” said Laural Ruggles, Vice President of Community Health Improvement. “We are fortunate to have such a skillful group of surgeons.” Kaufman is very pleased to be at NVRH. She enjoys the warmth of the community and the mission and values of NVRH.
Dr. Kaufman, her husband Eric and their son Sebastien, enjoy outdoor activities together with their dogs. They are all looking forward to learning to ski this winter.
