Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital is now offering pain management services. Bert L. Fichman, MD, will see patients at NVRH one day a week. Dr. Fichman is board certified in Pain Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Care and Anesthesiology and is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth
The NVRH Pain Clinic offers treatments such as radiofrequency ablation, medial branch blocks and epidural steroid injections. Conditions evaluated and treated include arthritic pain, chest wall pain, abdominal pain, diabetic neuropathy pain, head, neck and whiplash pain, low back pain, multiple sclerosis pain, pain of the spine and hip, post surgical pain, shoulder and arm pain, work-related injuries, post operative pain and cancer- related pain. Patients range from those with acute pain due to an injury or surgery to those with chronic pain. The mission of the clinic is to enhance a patient’s quality of life by decreasing pain and getting them back to the daily activities they enjoy.
Dr. Fichman does both a consult and the subsequent procedure in the Day Surgery Unit at the hospital. A referral from a healthcare provider is required. All inquiries and appointments will be handled by the NVRH Day Surgery secretary at 748-7345.
